Our Story

Ventana Custom Homes was started by Mel Shimek along with his wife Betty & daughter Denise McAdams in 1996. He found his niche in the Real Estate industry where he began building quality homes and pools. Success came easy for him because his passion showed in his work and with and success achieved purely by referrals.

Denise grew up watching her mother develop her passion for design and soon found the same passion. She brought new levels of creativity and design detail that has showed throughout the 50+ luxurious homes built and remodeled in Arizona.

The legacy continues...

In 2015 Mel was diagnosed with lung cancer and sadly passed away early 2016. Denise was determined to keep the legacy of Ventana Custom Homes going to honor her father. Tyler, her middle son, stepped in to help continue that legacy.

Together, the mother-son duo continue to build on the foundation of family that was established by Mel and provide excellent service to homeowners in need of a new home, addition or remodel.
